“I booked a 1 week stay through the front desk over the phone. My card was billed and I received my receipt by email. At no time was I given an opportunity to accept or decline what they call a "waiver fee" in case I had to cancel my reservation. 3 weeks before my trip I got a call that my Dad would only be with us here on earth a few more weeks. This was a shock because we were told he had at least another year...he has terminal cancer. I contacted the resort and asked to push my reservation out a few months due to my Dad's impending death. I wasn't canceling, I was asking to reschedule due to a horrible unforseen situation. They refused and kept my $1,300 dollar deposit. This would have been our first trip to Anguilla. I thought the people from Anguilla were kind and inviting. If this is any indication I'm actually afraid to visit now. On top of that they told me they were fully booked, so me moving my reservation would mean even if they couldn't rebook my room...they would only have one open room that week. Again, I didn't want to cancel, I wanted to be able to be with my father in his last few days here on earth. I am stunned at the cruelty.”

“Shoal Bay Villas was a very managed resort on a beautiful beach in Anguilla! We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment - with full kitchen and bath - that was spacious, very clean, well outfitted and comfortable. Though we were too late reserving to get a beach front condo, we still had a nice view of the water through the vestibule of the building in front of us. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone was always smiling, helpful and gracious. We especially liked that Shoal Bay had 'reserved' Palapas. It was so nice to not have to race down to the beach in the morning to 'reserve' our beach loungers with towels and books. It's a small thing but made the stay more relaxing. That being said, being there the week after new years meant that the beaches and resort were uncrowded. All in all, a resort that I would highly recommend and plan to return to.”
