Quick answer
Elodias Beach Bar & Grill stands as a distinctive establishment located at P.O. Box 192 East B.W.I in Shoal Bay Village, Anguilla, offering a prime beachfront dining experience. With a solid Google rating of 4.4 from 175 reviews, this venue has established itself as a mixed but generally positive destination for visitors seeking both culinary delights and beach relaxation. The restaurant's positioning directly on Shoal Bay Beach provides guests with an unparalleled oceanfront setting, complemented by its signature yellow umbrellas that create a picturesque scene against the Caribbean backdrop. While reviews consistently praise the location and certain menu items, experiences appear to vary significantly, particularly regarding service consistency and efficiency. Guests frequently highlight the restaurant's excellent food offerings, with particular emphasis on the fish bites meal which consistently receives high marks for quality. The beachfront location is another universally appreciated aspect, allowing patrons to enjoy meals and drinks while having direct access to one of Anguilla's most beautiful beaches. The establishment has been recommended by multiple local drivers, suggesting a reputation for quality that extends beyond tourist circles. Despite these strengths, reviews indicate that Elodias experiences notable inconsistency in service delivery, with some guests reporting exceptional attentiveness while others describe significant delays and even rudeness from staff, creating a somewhat polarized guest experience. GUEST EXPERIENCE: The guest experience at Elodias Beach Bar & Grill presents a fascinating dichotomy between its physical setting and service delivery. Many visitors describe the atmosphere as laid-back, chill, and breezy with plenty of comfortable seating, creating an ideal beachside retreat. Those who had positive experiences often mention specific staff members who provided exceptional service, with Kim being particularly noted for her kindness and hospitality. These fortunate guests report feeling welcomed and well-catered to, enjoying what they consider the best meal of their trip with excellent service, quality food, and drinks, all complemented by the stunning ocean view. The convenience of being steps away from beach chairs and umbrellas adds significant value to the overall experience for many patrons. Conversely, a substantial number of reviews highlight significant service challenges that detract from the otherwise appealing setting. Several guests report excessive wait times for both drinks and food, with some waiting over an hour for service stops or having orders completely missed. The inconsistency appears to extend beyond simple delays to include instances of incorrect billing, such as being charged for unrequested shots. Some visitors describe feeling unwelcome or even experiencing rudeness from staff, particularly during busy periods. This service inconsistency has led to frustration, with several guests explicitly stating they would not return and recommending others seek alternative establishments. The contrast between these experiences suggests that while Elodias offers an exceptional location and quality food, its service reliability remains a significant challenge that affects guest satisfaction unpredictably.
In their own words
“Elodia’s Beach Bar is located directly on Shoal Bay Beach, which is absolutely stunning. Their yellow umbrellas create a beautiful picture against the ocean backdrop and add to the overall beach atmosphere. The service was okay, nothing particularly warm or memorable, but the staff were not rude. One area for improvement would be beach service. Once we settled into our beach chairs, no one came by to take additional orders. It would be nice if a server periodically checked on guests lounging on the beach. That said, the drinks were excellent. They served the best piña coladas we had on the island, both the virgin and alcoholic versions. We also ordered the grilled mahi-mahi plate, which was good overall, though the fish was slightly overcooked and could have used a bit more seasoning. One thing we didn’t appreciate was being asked for an additional tip on top of an already included service charge, especially given the average level of service. Despite those criticisms, the location is beautiful, the beach is spectacular, and the included beach chairs (with a minimum spend) add great value. We would return for the drinks, the scenery, and the beach experience, and would recommend it to others visiting Shoal Bay.”
“Our driver, Mrs Bernadette, recommended that we eat at Elodias while we’re at Shoal Bay and I’m glad we did. We got the fish bit meal (came with a salad and rice and peas (or fries)) and we got pina coladas. They were both excellent choices. The restaurant is right on the beach so you don’t have to walk far to get a tasty meal. The sun was on another level when we visited the island, so Elodias offered a nice break from the heat. A must try when you’re in Anguilla.”
“Went at 2:00,took 30 minutes to get our first round of drinks, an hour to get food (1 burger and 2 chicken finger plates), only 1/2 of the 2nd round of drinks made it to the table with 20 minutes of empty glasses, and then we were charged for shots we didn't order. Good times. Feel bad for the owner losing money like this”
“Our driver Nell (highly recommend) brought us here when we said we were looking for great food. Everything was EXCELLENT from service to the food and drinks to the amazing view! This was our best meal the whole trip and I can't wait to visit again. Kim is so kind and hospitable. Thank you for an amazing time!”
